Name: 3x 400NB Pump columns & pipe equipping rig

Description:
Sibanye Stillwater required the installation of three new 400NB pump columns in one of their shafts. The shaft did not have enough space against the sidewall to install these new columns.
To overcome this problem the new pump columns were placed between the rock & man compartments, something never done before. Installation and maintenance of these columns were not possible with the conveyances installed on the shaft. TLJ was assigned with the design & shop detailing of all the pipe work, bearer sets & a new pipe equipping rig. The new conveyance was to serve as a pipe equipping rig, single deck cage and shaft exam rig. With the aid of point cloud scan technology, TLJ could ensure pinpoint accuracy of all the high-pressure tie in piping. Name: Cage & Bridle

Description:
Sibanye Stillwater required and an alternative method to conduct their weekly shaft exams one of their shafts. Due to the time-consuming process of attaching & detaching a conventional underslung basket, an alternative way was required.
TLJ designed a cage with an open type top deck and a conventional bottom deck. This conveyance can be used for shaft exams, personnel transportation & slinging.

Name: Mill feed conveyor

Description:
In 2018 Sibanye Stillwater decided to upgrade their mill feed conveyors at their Beatrix operation. The old conveyors were deteriorating and needed to be replaced. TLJ was tasked to produce shop detail drawings for the new mill feed conveyors.
Project deliverables: Shop detail drawings for 2x mill feed conveyors. These included tail end, gantries, trestles, take-up, head end & drive. These conveyors were commissioned late 2018 / early 2019.
Name: Pipe lifting platform

Description:
One Thursday night an earthquake caused some pipe supports to fail underground at a Kloof shaft. Sibanye Stillwater acted immediately and contacted TLJ to help resolve the problem. The next morning TLJ was on site, and immediately started working on a solution. By 11h00 Saturday morning TLJ completed the drawings for a pipe lifting platform to lift the pipes back into their original position. This is one of many occasions that TLJ worked through the night to assist a client in need.
Project deliverables: Shop detail drawings for a pipe lifting equipment. These drawings were delivered within 27 hours from being contacted.
Name: Emergency conveyances

Description:
At one of the Driefontein shafts, Sibanye Stillwater installed a system designed to transport personnel from underground to safety in case of an emergency. The system had some complication during installation & commissioning. Sibanye Stillwater contacted TLJ to assist with the project. The aim was to ensure that the system would work reliably and as intended during an emergency. By using point cloud scan data, TLJ was able to develop a 3D model and simulate the actual operation of the system. TLJ held design reviews with Sibanye Stillwater and modified the system to ensure safe operation.

Name: Shaft Steelwork

Description:
In order to keep old shafts safe & profitable, major mining companies in South-Africa is replacing corroded shaft steelwork at a rapid pace. Most old shafts only have GA drawings, thus manufacturing shaft steelwork especially in shaft bottoms, can become very complicated. TLJ specializes in shop detail drawings of shaft steelwork. One of our largest shaft steelwork projects contained in excess of 100 A1 size detailed shop drawings and took nearly 2 years to complete. Manufacturing & installation started as the first sets of drawings was delivered.

Name: Loading chutes

Description:
Due to the immense workload of ore handling chutes, in conjunction with the conditions underground, these chutes will have to be replaced at one stage or another, in order to keep running at design capacity. Most mining companies only have GA drawings of these chutes. Chutes, especially with liners, are near impossible to manufacture from GA drawings alone. TLJ specializes in the creation of shop detail drawings for this purpose. TLJ possesses the skill and technology to quickly & efficiently measure these chutes without affecting production. TLJ recently complete such a project at the Kloof operations of Sibanye Stillwater.
